Tell us about YOUR Encompass experience

This is the page where young people who have taken part in an Encompass programme can tell everyone about the things they did, the people they met and the experiences they had on their Encompass programme.

If you would like to tell us about YOUR Encompass programme, write to us and soon your name will be right here in print! Wow!

Now, over to you…

“I just wanted express what particpating in the Encompass ‘Diversity in the UK’ programme has done for me, and it really is a priceless experience. On first impression you think the obvious, being put in another country with a group of random strangers from different parts of the UK, and you may be alarmed by this, and different social lives, different cultures. All collide and you may think there could be some problems, or that no one will want to talk to each other. But this is where Encompass came into it; they prepared activities and workshops during the evening and, as I believe everyone is passionate about something or the other, it got all of us talking. One thing we all had in common is that we all faced similar problems as young people and HONESTLY at the end I felt I had made several new friends, both male and female “wink wink”.

I will tell anyone who wants to participate in anything to do with Encompass, do it! They have a great team, the staff there are young themselves and I personally saw them as friends rather than staff, and I would swap a Encompass trip for a tropical holiday honestly, and I’m a very hard person to please but I WAS DEEPLY SATISFIED!

‘Diversity in the UK’, July 2008

I wanted to take part in the Encompass ‘Diversity in the UK’ programme because I wanted to learn more about other cultures as well as giving other people the chance to learn about my culture.
My highlight of the programme was probably climbing the trapeze because it was a real challenge and I was proud of myself because I managed to do it even though it was scary. Another highlight was probably when I was climbing the ‘Challenge Wall’ and Abdi decided to go AWOL! It was one of my highlights because it was so funny!
I enjoyed the Encompass experience because it enabled me to interact with young people from all over the UK whom I normally might not have interacted with. It was an amazing and eye-opening experience and I made a lot of new friends who I’m gonna keep in touch with as well as staying in touch with Encompass.
