Step into Our World

Interactive participation was the theme of the ‘Step into Our World’ event held at St Ethelburga’s Centre for Reconciliation Peace on Wednesday 30th June.
This event was a collaboration between Encompass, St Ethelburga’s and MAD for Peace and aimed to shake up the conventional idea of a showcase by giving the floor to our young people and getting all of the audience members actively involved, pushing them out of their comfort zones and quite literally stepping into the world of the young people who are involved with our projects, giving them a first-hand impression of how it feels to be part of them.

The idea for this unique event was inspired through discussions about the
similar origins and shared visions of our organisations. Our work with young
people has evolved from our united belief that by collaborating closely and
telling powerful stories, we can strengthen and extend our activities to
create a lasting and sustainable peace. We therefore decided that we would put this belief into practice and create an opportunity for our supporters to engage with these stories through a series of workshops and gain a true feeling for and a real understanding of how we work.

Our three organisations are all London-based; have evolved as a direct and positive response to terrorist atrocities; refuse violence; have local, national and international outreach; and are dedicated to empowering and inspiring the young people of today to help them create a more peaceful tomorrow.
We were overjoyed to welcome so many people from different walks of life and with different connections to our organisations to this event. We were even lucky enough to be joined by Encompass’s own Israeli and Palestinian Representatives who were visiting from the Middle East.

Encompass would like to say an enormous big thank you to everyone who came along to experience the event, and in particular to Andrew Stunell MP, Andrew Stafford and Stewart Goshawk for taking time out of their busy schedules to be with us. Thank you also to St Ethelburga’s and MAD for Peace. We look forward to working with you again soon!

And last but by no means least, Encompass would like to congratulate Moussa, Ibrahim and Delase for all of their hard work in making the Encompass workshop so thought-provoking. Well done!
