Reunion in Jerusalem of Past Encompass Delegates

On the evening of 2nd February the staff and Trustees attended a reunion of past participants of Encompass programs.
Over thirty young people, representing all the programs which included Israelis and Palestinians, attended the reunion which was organised by the excellent local team- Itay, Zohar and Sofi. They were helped in their work by many of the local alumni.
The meeting was a moving experience for all those attending- among the highlights of the meeting held at the beautiful Encompass offices were the screening of a short film produced by a participant of the Fourth Voyage of Understanding and the unveiling of a memorial to Dan.
The meeting served as an opportunity for people to reconnect with the activities being run out of the Jerusalem office. For instance, the meeting was told about the Coffee Shop being run where Israelis and Palestinians come together to learn each others language. This has been attended by over twenty people, both Israelis and Palestinians, the majority of whom have not taken part in one of Encompass’ UK based programs. Attendees at the meeting also heard about plans to make a joint Israeli-Palestinian film about Jerusalem.
The staff and Trustees from the UK were really impressed by the dedication and energy of so many people related to the operations in the Middle East. They are proud of what has been achieved to date and having seen what has been achieved to date, are excited about the possibilities for the future.
