Autumn Newsletter 2006

Dear Well Wisher
See our Newsletter in full here.
Welcome to the Autumn edition of the ENCOMPASS Newsletter! We have had a busy summer – running programs, fundraising and raising the profile of ENCOMPASS both here and abroad. We hope that you are able to take a few moments to read about some of the exciting news from the world of ENCOMPASS!
In July we ran our Third Journey of Understanding followed in September by our Fourth Journey of Understanding. The Third Journey was generously funded by the Aqualung Trust and was unique for Encompass being the first exclusively Israeli-Palestinian programme allowing the participants an unparalleled opportunity to learn about the “other side”. This program involved the close collaboration of the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Trust and we were delighted to work with them.
There have been countless other events that ENCOMPASS has been involved with over the summer. Presentations were given at Brighton College – Dan’s old school, and a follow up trip to Grimsby was made to meet up with the participants from the Second Journey of Understanding and Louise cycled to Paris raising money for Encompass in the process – a case of sore bums all round though!
We have been compiling a new database of ENCOMPASS photos which will be used in the futher development of the website which we see as crucial to our success. The Staff and Trustees are thrilled to have in Angus such a creative and dedicated supporter who has now accepted our invitation to become a Trustee for both the UK and the US Trusts.
We would also like to welcome and thank Andrea Miles for her support and increasing involvement with ENCOMPASS providing her expert experience on all areas of fundraising.
In our last newsletter the ENCOMPASS Dragon Boat Regatta was one of the forthcoming events. The Second ENCOMPASS Regatta took place on July 1st and raised well in excess of £7,000. Friends old and new attended the event at the Docklands Watersports Centre – it was just a pity that England were knocked out of the World Cup later that afternoon! Our thanks to the Four Seasons in Provence, Mrs Florin and other donors for providing their much appreciated prizes.
At this stage we must thank all the people who helped to make 2006 such a successful year most notably Nick Baker at the Aqualung Trust. Thanks also to the Eranda Foundation, the Metropolitan Police, the Dulverton Trust, the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Trust and the Citizenship Foundation.
