Meeting in the Middle East
Following the appointment of new staff in the Middle East, a reunion meeting of Encompass alumni was recently held in Jericho.
Amit Lavi and Ashraf Ashqar Encompass coordinators in Israel and the Palestinian Territories respectively, organised the meeting to discuss future projects with alumni from both communities.
Palestinians and Israelis from four different Encompass Journeys of Understanding gathered in Jericho to discuss a variety of ideas.
Despite the difficulties involved in setting up the meeting, the mood was positive and people expressed a keen desire to stay involved in local activities aimed at furthering dialogue and understanding across the divide in society. Among ideas discussed were a new web-based forum where alumni could share ideas and experiences freely.
